The future of libraries
The latvian architect, researcher and educator Niklavs Paegle will give a lecture on The Future of Libraries from the perspective of his practice and experience. Paegle is one of the architects of the Fine Arts Library of Cornell University and The Story Tower which was designed to celebrate the individual reader and the notion of sharing and exchange.
Niklavs Paegle was born in Riga, Latvia and holds a Diploma from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. For the past 14 years Niklavs has been operating
between Glasgow, Vienna, London and Riga. His work has been
exhibited in Venice and Tokyo. He has been working with Foreign Office Architects and ACME in London, teaching together with Cristina Díaz Moreno & Efrén García Grinda at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna as well as being a unit master at Riga Technical University summer school. Together with an international project team, he is author and co-curator of the
Baltic Pavilion, representing Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia 2016 for the first time in one joint exhibition. Within the framework of Wolfgang Tschapeller ZT GmbH, Niklavs is currently leading the project for the Fine Arts Library in Cornell University, NY, USA.
